Our client is seeking an experienced Chief Operating Officer to provide strategic and operational leadership across the airline's operational functions.

Based in Dhaka, the COO will be accountable for safe, efficient, reliable and commercially sustainable airline operations across flight operations, engineering and maintenance, ground operations, cabin services and the Operations Control Centre.

The role will lead operational performance across the airline, with responsibility for fleet reliability, aircraft utilisation, On-Time Performance, safety culture, operational cost optimisation, regulatory compliance and passenger experience.

You will

Lead all airline operational departments

Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with corporate objectives

Establish operational priorities across all stations

Oversee flight operations and operational safety performance

Ensure adequate flight crew availability and optimum crew productivity

Oversee aircraft airworthiness, fleet reliability and dispatch reliability

Approve maintenance strategies and monitor maintenance costs

Support fleet induction and retirement projects

Provide strategic oversight of passenger, ramp, load control and baggage operations

Oversee aircraft turnaround, airport operations and station management

Establish cabin service standards and improve customer satisfaction

Oversee flight dispatch, crew control, aircraft routing and flight monitoring

Lead irregular operations and disruption recovery

Ensure compliance with applicable aviation, airport and security requirements

Monitor and improve OTP, flight completion, dispatch reliability and aircraft utilisation

Drive improvements in delay performance, fuel efficiency and turnaround performance

Lead operational response during incidents, disruptions, severe weather and technical emergencies

Lead fleet expansion, new destination launches and airport expansion initiatives

Support operational digitisation and fuel efficiency programmes

Lead IOSA renewal and operational transformation projects

Drive new aircraft induction and other strategic operational projects

Essential Requirements

Required Role Experience

18+ years of professional experience, including a minimum of 10 years in the commercial aviation industry.

Previous experience as a Chief Operating Officer, Director of Operations, VP Operations or equivalent senior airline operational leadership position is preferred.

Maintenance Qualification / Licence

Bachelor's degree is mandatory.

Master's degree in Aviation Management, Engineering, Business Administration or a related discipline is highly desirable.

Professional aviation qualifications are highly desirable.

Location / Availability

Based in Dhaka, Bangladesh, with the flexibility required to provide senior operational leadership across the airline's network.

Additional Requirements

Strong knowledge of commercial airline operations, aviation safety, regulatory compliance, fleet management and operational performance.

Experience managing complex airline operations across multiple operational departments is required.

Skills

Strong airline operations management capability across flight operations, engineering and maintenance, ground operations, cabin operations and OCC functions.

Strong understanding of Safety Management Systems, aviation regulatory compliance, airline economics, crisis management, fleet planning, operational budgeting and performance management.

Ability to lead operational transformation, strategic projects, fleet expansion and new destination initiatives.

Strong decision-making, problem-solving and crisis management capability.

Attitude
